Counting players and audience

EVITECH proved the reliability of the people-counting function of its new LYNX software solution for the project of the next world soccer cup in Brazil. Different counting points have been equipped over the Maracañas stadium, for the counting of people going to or coming from the playing ground, and for the counting of the audience coming to the stadium. Here, a counting of people coming back from physical training in July 2013, after the passing of 70 people (see the counter on the left).

Over installations where cameras provide angles of view with horizontal over 20°, counting precision was proven to be reliable as much as 90 to 98%. The best precision is obtained on the bottom of the image, where the angle with the ground is higher, and people better visible (here, the counting gate is at the bottom of the image).  Reciprocally, the superposition of people is more important on the top of the image, where the angle with the ground is lower and target sizes smaller.
